Drama!? No thanks…

I don’t really watch telly. Ok, maybe 1% club and a bit of gladiators on a Saturday night, but the rest isn’t for me!

I don’t understand why people are obsessed with drama - the latest celebrity fall-out or TV shows where everyone’s stabbing each other in the back. Or pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes.

Is this really entertainment, or how we want to spend our free time? Scandal, heartbreak, deception, meanness, upset and negativity.

Don’t even get me started on soap (most of you know I’ve had my fill of that over the years!)

I know I’m being judgemental and, believe me, I hate it when people are judgy. It’s a real turn off.

Yes, it’s human nature to a certain extend, but it’s also mean, unnecessary and shows a certain amount of entitlement and privilege. It lacks empathy and understanding and it’s just…. well, ugly.

Which brings me back to this sort of ‘entertainment’.

It’s just mean.

If this is what’s being consumed, then aren’t we inviting this kind of nonsense into our lives. Is that how we want our days to be. Mean and ugly!?

I wonder how all this contributes to the fact the world is an absolute bin fire 🙈 because I don’t doubt for a second that it does. After all, if we’re so fixated on other people’s drama, we’re not going to notice what else is going on!

Maybe consuming content like this makes people feel more worthy, feel better about their lives. Or maybe they just want to feel like they’re better than other people. I dunno. Maybe they just tolerate it because that’s what’s being made.

Ultimately, I don’t have time for it and when I feel myself getting dragged into other peoples drama (whether real life or fictional) I try and nip it in the bud.

I wanna be in my own lane - improving my life and my relationships. Nurturing what matters, showing up in a way that aligns with my values and ditching everything else - including the judgement.
